If dark, angry and heavy music is your vibe then CABAL are the band from you, blending elements of black metal, deathcore and hardcore to create a signature sound that is just downright evil. The 3rd release from these boys, “Magno Interitus” pushes more on this sound and is easily a “must-listen” to anyone who’s a fan of heavy music. CABAL formed back in 2016 and have done nothing but make waves since their debut, playing tours and shows with some of the biggest acts in the game, as well as collaborating with the likes of Matt Heafy (Trivium), CJ McMahon (Thy Art Is Murder) and most recently, Joe Badolato (Fit For An Autopsy). These boys have made a solid name for themselves, and their music speaks volumes as to why.
CABAL’s musicianship is very distinguishable from other artists due to the dark atmosphere that surrounds every track, accompanied by destructive down tuned riffs, drums that bring every section to life and intense harsh vocals that pierce into the listener. These boys have a signature sound but aren’t afraid to push the boundaries, incorporating new ideas within this album to create a collection of songs that keep true to the band’s sound but branch out enough to bring something unique and new to the table. Every track shifting towards another genre to keep the listener guessing, from the black metal-esque track “Insidious” to the industrial driven “Blod Af Mit”, it’s safe to say that “Magno Ineritus” has something for everyone.
Vocalist Andreas Bjulver Paarup dominates this album with a consistent delivery of intensity throughout every track. His range isn’t the most diverse thing to come out of the extreme metal community, but he surely makes up for it with his constant domination of every track. You can tell when listening through the album that he is a strong asset and driving force behind CABAL and you couldn’t imagine the band being fronted by anyone else. The album also features some guest vocalists in the form of Simon Olsen (BAEST) and as mentioned before, Joe Badolato (Fit For An Autopsy) which aren’t necessary to the record but are fun collaborations to listen to.
CABAL are definitely one of the most exciting bands in the scene right now. The combination of genres and the flawless execution on the record and on stage makes these guys one of the bands to keep an eye on; a testament to what heavy music could be with a bit of ingenuity. “Magno Intertius” is a fantastic follow up from their 2020 album “Drag Me Down” and is a step in the right direction to getting these boys more recognised on an international level. CABAL are well on the way to dominating this scene and this album will certainly turn the right heads.
