Ambos Mundos by CACHEMIRA is a “far out” musical trip back to the “Summer of Love” in 1969 and those flowers in your hair times of peace and protest. Ambos Mundos is so retro cool, yet at the same time it is totally relevant to the world today and an absolute masterpiece in what constitutes a truly great album. CACHEMIRA have created “Ear Nectar” of the finest quality to make the psychedelic soundtrack for the summer of 2022.
CACHEMIRA is Claudia Gonzalez Diaz (Bass and Vocals), Gaston Laine (Guitar and Backing Vocals) and Alejandro Carmona Blanco (Drums and Percussion) along with several guests making appearances on the album.
Don’t Look Back (to the fire) is a fantastic opening track with a heady mix of bluesy guitars, vocals and some subtle organ playing from Camille Goellaen plus Colin Goellaen on the congas. Keep An Eye On Me slides in next with a sublime bass sound that will not fail to get your blood pumping and your feet moving. Future’s Site is a slightly slower song with a mix of great percussion, vocal harmonies and an awesome guitar solo from Alexanra Sanchez Miralles. Dirty Roads has a real retro feel about it, with the combination of vocal harmonies and bass rhythm giving it that Late 60s, early 70s festival sound.
Mujer Vudu is the first track on the album with the vocals purely in Spanish, which adds some Latino spice to the psychedelic mix. The guitars on Get Out (Turn Around) drives the tempo and give it an early days of heavy rock sound. Coast to Coast is the shortest track on the album at just over two minutes long, but it’s just over two minutes of pure rock! The finale is the in Spanish title track Ambos Mundos which brings the whole CACHEMIRA experience to a glorious climax by highlighting all the band’s individual skills in a Santana style extravaganza combined with a great lesson in how the Spanish guitar should sound from LG Valeta.
Ambos Mundos by CACHEMIRA must be a contender for best rock album of the year so far, and I can’t praise it enough. It’s Retro, it’s current, it absolutely rocks!!
