Donna Cannone is the self-titled debut album from Swedish melodic rock band Donna Cannone. It is a good old-fashioned hard rock album with more than a hint of Glam, Post Punk and New wave feel about it. Donna Cannone certainly do know how to rock hard and if you like your ear candy delivered at high velocity in sweet bite size chunks then this is an album well worth checking out.

Donna Cannone are Giorgia Carteri (Guitar), Tilda Nilke Norlund (Drums), Luca D’Andria (Vocals, Bass) and Bjorn ‘Speed’ Strid (Guitar).

Cross the line is a high-speed opener, with a wicked hook that will instantly have you singing along, before Look around you grabs you with its Punk/New wave vibes.

Nothing to do is another highly catchy number which sounds just the way that the love child of a Go Go’s and Green Day tune might. Whatever Comes Your Way picks up the pace before dropping a gear into Is It True – a much slower and softer number with a lovely guest vocal appearance by Mia Karlsson, combined with some great vocal harmonies by the band.

Pushed kicks off the second half of the album with a traditional hard rock feel  and a slick guitar solo thrown in for good measure. Lost City’s Long-Lost Friend is another slightly slower number with some excellent guitar work, a catchy chorus line and some tight vocal harmonies. Message to Tomorrow moves back towards the Punk/New Wave feel, with the guitar riffs giving it that fist pumping beat – definitely my favourite track of the album. The North is a darker track with a much heavier bass sound and an old school melodic rock feel about it. Why Am I Here is the closer on Donna Cannone’s debut, and goes out on a high, with a full show of skill and craft from all the band members, leaving you wanting more.

Donna Cannone make music fun and enjoyable to listen too with their unique blend of different genres, creating something very special and very much worth your time.
