The new wave of heavy music is filled with bands combining genres to create absolutely chaotic tracks that bring a new lease of life into the scene. Graphic Nature are definitely on the forefront of this frontier, with their debut album “A Mind Waiting to Die”, the boys are taking no prisoners. The album is the band’s first full-release and acts as a follow-up to their EP “New Skin”, that was released back in February 2022.

Smashing together the pure aggression of hardcore with the experimentation of nu-metal, musically, this is an absolute wonder to behold. Every track feels fresh and unique, with twists that leave the listener caught off guard. Low tuned guitars and head pounding drums dominate through this album, but Graphic Nature throw in many other elements to keep things exciting, such as an almost Drum & Bass section near the end of “Sour Master” and the desk scratching that appears on several tracks. “A Mind Waiting to Die” feels like a modern take on early Slipknot, and I am all for it.

Vocalist Harvey Freeman lyrical inspiration for this record is about mental health, a topic the vocalist holds in high regards as it isn’t talked about enough, and the delivery and anger from Harvey on every track is a testament on how much speaking about this topic means to him. This album is really brought together by the performance of the frontman and makes this band memorable, almost resonating with a younger Corey Taylor blended with Lochie Keogh (Alpha Wolf).

The music scene needs more bands like Graphic Nature; experimenting with the old and new to create a sound that is infectious, heavy and ultimately, very enjoyable to listen to. The boys head out on a UK run in April in support of this release, and it won’t be long before they’re hitting bigger tours and bigger stages.
