LaVire are an exciting 4-piece Heavy Rock band from Lincoln in the UK. No Truth to Tell Part 1 is the first EP, with a second to follow in early 2023. Their brand of song craft draws influence from many of the major arena artists of the last decade such as Halestorm, Biffy Clyro and Muse. LaVire have many gigs booked around the UK during late 2022 and into 2023 and are predicted by many to create a storm on the music scene.

Opening number, Welcome to the Freakshow, is a foot-stomping, hard-hitting, heavy riffing song that hits you like a freight train. It has a real Punk/New wave edge to it – what a blast! The Wall takes a more traditional approach, with a hard rock arrangement and a steady, heavy bass arrangement that allows you to completely focus on Chloe’s gritty rock vocals and creates a burning desire to singalong.

Timewaster is an epic tune with an insight of the bands softer side to it. Gentle guitars and delicate vocals slowly give way to a much harder riff and a dramatic finish. The track has a great arc, and shows a wide range of dynamics from the band. Straight off the bat North Star is a much darker affair, with heart thumping guitars and a classic sounding depth to the music creating the heaviest track on the EP.

Final track We Play God brings it home with a banging anthem that leaves the listener wanting more. This tune shows the full scope of the band’s quality and musical craft with a combination of awesome vocals, vocal harmonies, changes of pace and emotion throughout.

What a superb band LaVire are. No over the top solos or overcooked arrangements, just a good solid performance where there is more of an emphasis on a tight performance than individuals, which is refreshing to hear. There is a definite vibe that LaVire are going to be something big and No Truth to Tell Part 1 is just the beginning of an amazing journey. I, for one, will be looking out to see if they are touring near me soon and hoping to see these guys live.
