Japanese melodic death metal band Serenity In Murder have over a decade of experience behind them, and it really shows in their latest release, “Timeless Reverie”. Every single moment of “Timeless Reverie” oozes pure class from a band that is brimming with skill and confidence, Serenity In Murder certainly know how to play a tune or two!
The concept behind “Timeless Reverie” is the suspension of time where the past and the present collide. Serenity In Murder do this by exploring the fragility of life, the complexities of human emotions, along with the constant struggle between light and dark. All of that aside, “Timeless Reverie” is also a fabulous album where several great genres collide in an epic metal battle that will leave your jaw firmly on the floor!
Serenity In Murder is AYUMU (vocals), RYUJI (guitars), FREDDY (guitar, orchestrations), YU-RI (bass) and ALLEN (drums).
We are all truly “God Forsaken” in the powerful and dramatic opening track, where brutal collides with beautiful. The musicianship craft is sublime, and the vocals are devastatingly bleak. The futuristic sounding “Matrix” packs a heavy punch as it races through at near breakneck speed as clean and growling vocals compete for dominance.
“Blue Roses Gracefully Fall” is an epic track on a grand scale with a ratcheting riff enhancing a full, deep and rich sound that will totally blow you away. Next up, “And the World Awake” will certainly do just that if you are not already fully engaged, with your pupils fully dilated and your mouth ajar!
Pedal to the metal track “Never Difiled” totally kicks ass as it tears everything up in its path, the roaring vocals go straight for the jugular whilst the screaming guitars burn a flaming chasm directly through your ear canals. The terrifyingly guttural “Dance of Sorrow” mixes both beauty and beast together in a macabre mosh pit mash up that will leave your heart pumping at a pace and your head spinning in complete awe.
Smoking hot track “The Flames Ablaze” keeps its foot firmly on the gas as it scorches a cosmic vapour trail like a planet annihilating comet before modern metal sounding song “Revolt” calls you to arm yourself, rise-up and push back against the rising tide.
Instrumental interlude “Past _ Timeless Reverie” adds a slither of gentile calm before all hell breaks loose once more in “Noticed This Is The Betrayal,” a ferocious blend of new versus old that has a foothold in both worlds.
Curtain closer “Hope _ Timeless Reverie” is such a wonderful way to finish, it has a deeply rich vein of the far east running right through it to bring everything back down to a calming, gentle and fulfilling conclusion.
Message received, for as long as there is life there is always going to be hope!
In order to rock your world, if it’s a big yes to symphonic metal, and a hell yes to melodic death metal, then you’re going to absolutely love Serenity In Murder, so don’t hesitate, give “Timeless Reverie” a spin right now and crank that volume up to maximum! You won’t regret it, and your neighbours may even thank you! Very highly recommended!
