Angst filled lyrics, check; Gang vocals, check; Blast beats, check; Cool vocal effects, check; Dance grooves? check; Metalcore riffs, check. Brisbane’s Stepson deliver a multifaceted and complex debut album Help Me, Help You. Produced, mixed and mastered by Callan Orr of Avalanche Studios (Dream On Dreamer, Young Lions, Hands Like Houses), the album stands up well to the roller coaster ride of styles they have packed into the eleven tracks. The album balances exploration with a strong melodic metalcore backbone.

Track Highlights: The album opens with a solid metalcore tune, Learning to Let Go, where Stepson shows their core skills and strengths. Just when you think you know what you are going to get from this, you get hit with some pop punk in Who Are We. To add to the ride, later we get I Wish, a dance feel with all the pop vocal effects you would expect with rather deep lyrics. No ride would be complete without an anthemic track and they have it in The Shift, The Blur and Say Something.

Help Me, Help You brings a lot to the table and shows Stepson as a creative force for the future.
