Review By: Liam True

Filled with ambient, electronic background noises along with progressive modern metalcore touches, The Infinite is a masterclass in how to write a heavy metalcore record with added textures and layers. They say less is more, but in this case the amount they’ve layered upon layers is just right.

Album intro Astro takes you on an ambient journey where you feel like you’ve been teleported 2000 years into the future and as Murphy’s Law kicks in with a perfect opening line ‘To save yourself, you have to fucking jump’ as the band bursts into first gear and hits you with their electronicore style of breakdowns.

While the title-track, Infinite, isn’t as memorable as others, it still leads with its punchy synth wave melody as the band still hammer away behind it. With vocalist Steven Rassart almost sounding like Kevin Ratajczak from Electric Callboy with his low growls.

Explore & Transformation are again both slow burners, but with the amount of riffage from the two songs it certainly makes up for it, as guitarist Nicolas Pirlet whizzes about the fretboard while bassist Julien Dejasse feels a little drowned out by the synth/ambient passages. The latter half of the album then begins to trail off slightly with most songs, with the exception of Momentum & House Of Cards being almost identical, which is a shame because up until Black Or White the band produce some good tracks. While being a mixed bag of goodies, the album is very good in production, and the sci-fi elements from the background sounds add to create a more complex sounding album.
