Industrial hardcore quintet Void of Vision are back with their 3rd and final instalment in the Chronicles saga; “Chronicles III: Underworld. The Australian band have been working tirelessly over the past year on these releases, and the end is in sight as they release their most ambitious material to date. As you go through the Chronicles collection, you can hear throughout the records the band slowly become more Industrial, replacing heavy grooves and beatdowns with heavy bass and synth, almost sounding like a completely new band altogether. The progression and direction Void of Vision are heading is going to be a shock to the system for fans of their earlier work.

We kick things off with the latest single from the band: “HELL HELL HELL”. The track feels like a blend of Drum & Bass with hardcore, keeping the aggression and the energy at a 10 throughout, and acts like a solid opener for the EP. The track also provides the only thing that would resemble a breakdown on the entire record. It’s definitely a strong start and a wonderful way to show the bands transition into different and new territories. “ASMR” is up next and is a song intended for big speakers. Thumping, industrial style bass dominates this song, accompanied by a very synth driven instrumental, leaving the listener in an almost trance state while listening through. Harsh vocals are abundant in this track as singing and Marilyn Manson-esque talking take over, making this track sound like nothing Void of Vision have done before. Ending track “Neue One” keeps up the Industrial vibes with another track filled with heavy bass and synth. The aggressive screaming makes a comeback and definitely makes an impact. Guitar riffs are almost non-existent on this record, on the exception of 2 small sections in this track and in “HELL HELL HELL”.

Void of Vision have created an EP that definitely stands out from anything the band have previously created and alongside the 2 prior releases, they have created a musical journey that is incredible to listen to. The EP on its own is a very enjoyable listen, but to be truly appreciated, you need to check out Chronicles I and II and hear it as a whole. The band are set to embark on a UK tour in early 2023 with Holding Absence, and they are definitely going to bring a new life of energy with these new tracks.
