Glassbone are up next with their debut EP “Spirals”, bringing a chaotic mix of hardcore, metalcore and Industrial metal. The band formed in 2021 and have achieved a lot in their short time, including a record deal with Bloodblast Records and an EU/UK tour supporting French Heavyweights Landmvrks, Resolve and ten56.. These guys are definitely set up for big things in the future, especially with such a strong start to their careers.
“Spirals” opens with the track Pitch Black, which starts off with a nice beat with the promise of heading into something a lot heavier. Unfortunately for me, the drop seemed to lack any impact and fell flat, as the same riff is pounded into the listeners ears. The vocals and production of the song make up for it in some way, but it wasn’t the strongest start to the EP. The tracks that follow are destructive and exactly what I was expecting. Every song is heavy and brought to you with such ferocity, it’s hard to keep still listening to it. Hadrien Besson’s vocal style and technique really brings this band to life, bringing his blend of hardcore yells mixed with some nu-metal influences throughout make the tracks stand out.
The guitar work and drumming in this album is also very exceptional. The low tuned riffs smash through speakers, mixed with high pitched guitar effects that pierce ears. JP Barcos and Alain Poirier have really done an amazing job with this album, coming up with some very unique sounding riffs and effects throughout the EP. Mix that with Nicolas Bastien’s crazy drumming skills, playing with both intensity and technicality that really make this EP sound apart from everything else in the current scene.
Glassbone have done a brilliant job with this EP, creating something innovative and heavy for fans to really enjoy, either on record or live. If there’s a band you should keep an eye on in the future, this is it.
