Mythos, Confession, Tragedies and Love is the third musical outing from Welsh hard rockers Beth Blade and the Beautiful Disasters, and it’s an absolute belter. Some albums take a couple of listens before you get where the band are coming from, but Mythos, Confession, Tragedies and Love is not one of those albums, it was love at first listen. Every track is performed and delivered with precision, power, passion and emotion that will get your musical taste buds tingling.

Opener, The Otherside, is a hard rocking track with a heavy, grooving bass sound and raw rocking vocals. It sets the tone, and blends perfectly into Sin Eater – an old school heavy rock track with some gritty guitar playing, giving it a lovely, rustic feel. Tonight I’m With You is a much faster paced track with a catchy sing-along chorus and wicked rhythm to get those feet moving.

Who you are pairs perfectly, keeping up the mood of the previous track to get your fists pumping and your legs jumping? Again, Beth sounds fantastic on those big hook-laden moments. Hold Your heart is a much softer and more emotional song which burns slowly towards a heart-wrenching finale. Undo Me is another emotional song, but this time with a much harder-rocking core to accompany Beth’s vocals. Persephone takes it up a notch with some neat switches of speed and tempo throughout, plus an excellent guitar solo.

Ozymandias is a step back in time to those early hard rock sounds of the 70s with an absolute classic riff and fuzzed out bass – definitely edges it as my favourite track. Sacrifice is a stunningly beautiful and haunting track which had some more modern tinges, reminding me of a cross between All About Eve and Evanescence.

Trigger Warning picks the speed up once again with another catchy hard rock song to lift the mood. The curtain closer, Still Not Asking for It, powerfully rocks the album to a climax with a hard-hitting stomp and sharp finish.

Mythos, Confession, Tragedies and Love by Beth Blade and The Beautiful Disasters is a Rock n Roll rollercoaster of emotions played with a hard rock warrior heart to deliver an accomplished album that fans and non-fans alike will thoroughly enjoy.
