Combining tech-metal with elements of pop, we have the very talented quintet from London, Exist Immortal, with their 4th self-titled album. The band have been around for nearly a decade and have cemented themselves as one of the driving forces in the underground scene, touring with bands such as Sikth, LANDMVRKS and Textures, as well as recently headlining a stage at Tech Fest and appearing at several European festivals. They’ve spent the last several years perfecting their craft and solidifying their sound to give us a collection of tracks that really bring out the best in all their abilities. Exist Immortal made this comment when asked about the upcoming album:

“We are very excited to present our latest, self-titled, full-length album. For us this is a culmination of a lot of work, building and evolving. We bring back a lot of the heavier elements from our older releases, while keeping a lot of the aesthetics and layers from Triptych. As musicians we have always struggled with where to place ourselves amongst our peers and always written music we wanted to make over, intentionally fitting into existing trends. We feel that this album is by far our most accomplished and self-assured record to date, reincorporating harsh vocals while exploring new territory on the guitar side of things.”

This self-titled record is filled with many exciting and technical riffs, accompanied by some very impressive drumming that compliments both the guitar and the vocals on this album. Exist Immortal keep it safe structurally while keeping the listener engaged with many exciting elements throughout, including crushing breakdowns and ripping solos. The layout of the tracks makes this album a very easy listening record, accessible and engaging to new fans, while keeping their flare that drew in the older ones.

The vocals on the album are amazing. The melody on every verse is enchanting and such a wonderful experience to listen through, followed by huge anthemic choruses that are well suited for stadium sized crowds. The addition of screaming in a couple of tracks is also a nice addition, added enough to make heads turn and not completely oversaturate the album. Exist Immortal also gain a helping hand from Joe Rosser (Sikth) on the opening track, laying down a verse that is just as captivating as the band’s own vocalist. To bring out a heavier side to some of the tracks, Dilan Alves (Harbinger) and Luke Griffins (ex-Acrania, SHUSH) are also recruited to deliver some devastating sections on the album’s heaviest songs.

The way this entire album is composed and put together is perfection. From the music to the vocals to the mix, it is a work of art and really incredible to listen through. After listening through this record, it’s no wonder why these boys have the following they do, and it’s only going to improve and grow. It won’t be long before these guys are headlining bigger shows, and I can’t wait to see Exist Immortal thrive from this album.
